![]() I've a feeling that once I get the hang of it, it should be fairly simple to do, but at present it's just a big load of icons with buckets, paintbrushes and some kind of swirly lasso on them. The question is, does anyone know of any good, clear, straightforward tutorials, either video or written, about doing this, or do you have any tips on how to get some decent lighting effects using gimp on your own parallax maps? I really am pretty much a beginner, and I'm learning by doing, so any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. I used the background parallax as the original basis for the foreground parallax, but having said that, I did notice that the foreground parallax on RPG Maker XP (where the foreground parallax is known as fog) tends to have its own math instead of having the same math as the background parallax (a.k.a. I'm using Gimp, which I'm getting the hang of, but there are still many functions I'm just not aware of or that are too complicated for a noob like me. Been working on this RPG on and off, Ill finish it one day hopefully. I'm trying to learn how to parallax map, and it's going reasonably well, but the next step is to learn how to get cool lighting effects for darker indoor scenes, underground tunnels, nighttime camp scenes and the like. Softwares: a graphic editor (Photoshop, gimp or whatever) Tiled, RPG Maker XP/VX/Ace/MV. Apologies if this is a repeat of a previous question, but I've searched and haven't seen anything on this exactly.
